Orphanage / Shelter in Vietnam

n 2010-2011 Peter was invited to provide negotiations and technical advice regarding donation monitoring, budget control, disabled access, fundraising and design for extensions to an orphanage. Also to assist with coordination of two volunteer student groups on ‘cultural immersion’ trips, including provision of English conversation group practice. The location is the village of Huong Phuong, Quang Binh Province, Central Vietnam. As volunteer architect, Peter lived in the village as a guest of the Christian monastic community that runs the orphanage/shelter. Of the 130 women in the monastic community, about 40 sisters are based in the village. The others are rotated through 8 other community projects. One of these pastoral missions is the nearby orphanage.
